Состоит из нескольких профессиональных факультетов [ professional school], в том числе Музыкального училища Хартта [Hartt School], Хартфордского художественного училища [Hartford Art School] (его создание в 1877 дало толчок развитию будущего университета), Технологического колледжа Уорда [Ward College of Technology]. В состав университета также входят двухлетние колледжи [ junior college, Hillyer College; Hartford College for Women]. Слияние этих и других училищ в 1957 считается официальной датой основания университета. Центр изучения иудаизма [Maurice Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies], Музей американской политики [Museum of American Political Life], Горный научный центр Талкотт [Talcott Mountain Science Center].
